Cristina joined our faculty in 2025 and is excited to be part of the community. She discovered her love for Montessori education when her oldest son attended a Montessori school, inspiring her to complete her certification at the New England Montessori Teacher Education Center in 2009. A mother of four and proud grandmother of two, Cristina brings both experience and heart to her work with children. Her strong background in art began with many years of study at The Museum of Fine Arts as a child to young adult, which continues to shape her creative approach in the classroom. Cristina is also a native Spanish speaker who has developed an early childhood Spanish curriculum, helping young learners build language skills with joy and confidence.

Becky Sousa

Becky was introduced to Montessori education by a local family and was immediately intrigued by the philosophy. Prior to her Montessori experience, her professional journey involved a variety of experiences that shaped who she is today. She began her professional career working with children and adults with severe to profound special needs for seven years, then studied phlebotomy working in a local hospital for two years followed by working as a manager for a local laboratory for eight years. She joined the OSMS staff as an assistant in 2022. After completing an intensive Montessori teacher education program, Becky became a lead teacher in 2026. In her spare time, she enjoys looking for sea glass.

Kailyn Medeiros

Kailyn joined the OSMS community in 2024 as a guide in a Primary classroom, bringing with her a lifelong connection to Montessori education. As a former Montessori child herself, she grew up immersed in the philosophy through both her own education and her mother, who owned a Montessori school. Her love for Montessori is rooted in the freedom children are given to be themselves—to explore their interests, build independence, and discover a genuine love of learning. Her connection to Montessori became even more meaningful when she became a mother and chose a Montessori education for her own son. Through her studies with the Northeast Montessori Institute, Kailyn has continued to build upon the Montessori foundation that has shaped so much of her life. She has a genuine love for the philosophy and is passionate about creating a warm, nurturing environment where every child feels known, respected, supported, and excited to learn.

Emily Hubbard

Jen has been a part of the Ocean State Montessori School since 1997 when she brought her Creative Movement/Gymnastics program to the school. In 1999, she became our Physical Education teacher when the elementary school opened. Jen later completed Orton-Gillingham literacy training and became our in-house Reading Specialist in 2025 in addition to teaching all of our Physical Education and Health classes to the Primary 3 and Elementary students. A proud parent of two former OSMS students, Jen has a BA in Health & Society from Brown University, as well as several certifications from USA Gymnastics.

Emma joined the OSMS faculty in 2025 as the Lead Music Teacher, bringing with her a decade of experience as a private music instructor along with a versatile background as a performer. A skilled multi-instrumentalist, Emma plays piano, oboe, flute, and piccolo, giving her an understanding of music from many different angles. She holds a BA in Linguistics from Pitzer College, and both performed in and managed her high school and college concert bands, gaining hands-on experience with what it takes to help young musicians grow and succeed together. Emma is excited to share her passion for music with our students, and help them discover the joy of singing, playing instruments, and expressing themselves creatively! In addition to teaching music, Emma also serves as the Primary Guide in our Sea Turtles classroom.
